Bill O'Reilly's failed "fact check" of Michelle Obama's speech

If you heard about Bill O'Reilly "fact checking" Michelle Obama's speech by saying that the slaves who built the White House were well fed (as if that in any way undermines the point of her speech or justifies using slaves to build the place), read Abigail Adams' (wife of President John Adams) own words of her experience in the newly opened White House:

"...it is true Republicanism that drive the Slaves half fed, and destitute of cloathing, or fit for Mayfaire, to labour, whilst the owner waches about Idle..."

The most thorough, profound and moving defense of Hillary Clinton I have ever seen

This is an interesting analysis of Hillary Clinton. If accurate, it appears that many of the negative "facts" we've all (including myself) believed about her for years are not justified, but are instead built upon persistent sexism:

Why I Think Hillary Clinton Will Be Our Next President

This is much more encouraging, and Neil Carter is known for his well thought out articles, but the "I feel it in my gut" (truthiness!) statements don't help:

We Fact-Checked the Science Behind the Republican Party Platform

As if it weren't clear already...

Trump: 'laziness is a trait in blacks ... I believe that'

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/7/20/1550251/-Trump-laziness-is-a-trait-in-blacks-I-believe-that

That would sink any other candidate. But then that's true for half of what he's said....

Trump doesn't actually want to do any of actual work of the president

In SHOULD just be part of a funny skit on SNL...but instead it's real:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/7/21/1550579/-I-Can-t-Believe-This-NYT-Article-About-Trump-Is-Not-A-Bigger-Story-Scandal

"Donald Jr. wanted to make him an offer nonetheless: Did he have any interest in being the most powerful vice president in history?

When Kasich’s adviser asked how this would be the case, Donald Jr. explained that his father’s vice president would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.

Then what, the adviser asked, would Trump be in charge of?

“Making America great again” was the casual reply."

Holy shit! Yet I'll bet this won't impact him, since his followers don't care about any of the important part of being president.

Why we cover our ears to the facts

A lesson we can all learn:

Don't succumb to cognitive dissonance and bias! Way too many religious and political people do, unfortunately. I've done it too.

Misguided and ignorant, but understandable.
